Your young adult is capable and intelligent, but many students and young professionals struggle with the transition from college to early adulthood.
Without the structure of school, young adults are suddenly expected to manage things that were never explicitly taught:
- Exploring career paths
- Building professional connections
- Organizing job searches and applications
- Following through on opportunities
- Making decisions about what direction to pursue
In most cases, the challenge isn’t motivation — it’s underdeveloped executive function skills. These are the abilities needed to plan, stay organized, get started, and follow through on complex goals.
At Educational Connections, we know the real magic happens when we pair career strategy with the planning, accountability, and follow-through skills that actually get things done.
Through our virtual Launch Coaching program, your young adult will receive both types of support so they can move forward with clarity, traction, and momentum.
What You’re Seeing at Home
They did what they were supposed to do. They got through college (or are about to graduate). And now… nothing is really happening.
Maybe your young adult says they’re applying to lots of jobs, but you’re not seeing results. Maybe they start strong, then lose momentum.
Or maybe every conversation about “what’s next” seems to go nowhere. You ask what their plan is. They don’t have an answer, or they shut down.
And before you know it, you’re stepping back in—reminding, checking, trying to keep things moving. It starts to feel like high school all over again.
And you’re left wondering… how do I help without doing this for them?
Launch Coaching is designed to close that gap.
We help young adults, even those who come to us resistant to help, move from feeling stuck to making steady, consistent progress.
What We Work On In Coaching Sessions
Our coaching is 100% online and focuses on practical systems that help young adults build direction and traction in their early careers.
The EC Take Action Model
1. Clarify the Goal
We start by helping your young adult define a clear, realistic direction so they know what they’re working toward
2. Break It Down
Then we take big, overwhelming goals and break them into manageable, specific steps.
3. Anticipate Obstacles
Your 20-something creates a weekly plan and learns how to follow through even when things don’t go as planned.
4. Reflect and Adjust
Each week, we look at what’s working, what’s not, and adjust the plan to keep momentum going.
Over time, this builds the executive function skills your young adult needs, not just now, but long-term as they build their career.
Built on Over 25 Years of Experience
Since 1998, Educational Connections has helped thousands of students, including those with ADHD, develop the executive function skills needed to plan, stay organized, and follow through.
Launch Coaching takes that same proven approach and applies it to the next phase of life.
Because the challenge doesn’t end after college. It just looks different.
And the same skills that helped your child succeed in school are the ones they now need to move forward in the real world.
How Launch Coaching Actually Works
Your young adult works virtually with both a Launch Coach and a Career Counselor, so they get support with both taking action and doing it effectively.
Your young adult meets for a total of 8 1-hour sessions. This could be twice a week for one month or once a week for two months.
- The Launch Coach is there every session to support the how: follow-through and momentum.
- The Career Counselor joins three of the sessions to support the what: strategy and direction.
Together, our caring experts give your kid the structure and strategy needed to move forward.
What This Looks Like in Practice
This isn’t passive coaching. Your young adult is actively working through the job search process with expert guidance.
During sessions, they’ll set a few clear, realistic goals for the week and break them into manageable, scheduled tasks. They’ll work through real job search actions, like networking and interview prep, and build the planning and prioritization skills they need to stay on track.
Between sessions, they’ll follow through on those tasks, practice consistency, and begin to take more initiative on their own.
Each week builds on the last, so progress becomes more consistent and more visible.
What Progress Can Look Like
We meet young adults where they are, whether they’re avoiding the process, applying to jobs inconsistently, or feeling overwhelmed about where to start.
After a few weeks of Launch Coaching, that begins to shift.
- They have a clearer weekly plan.
- They’re following through more consistently.
- They rely less on you to manage the process.
- They start taking more initiative on their own.
- And most importantly, you start to see real momentum, whether that’s interviews, clearer direction, or meaningful next steps.
This is about helping your child move forward and keep moving forward.
