College Consultant at Educational Connections

Jen Foldvary has spent her career on both sides of the admissions process — first as a university admissions professional, then as a high school counselor guiding students through it. Since joining Educational Connections, she's helped students gain admission to over 100 colleges and universities, including Clemson, Ohio State, Villanova, UC San Diego, Virginia Tech, DePaul, Georgia State, and Old Dominion, among many others.

Jen spent more than 15 years as a College Counselor at a Catholic high school, where she built and ran a comprehensive college and career planning program for students in grades 9-12. She guided hundreds of students and families through every stage of the process: college search, campus visits, application strategy, essay development, financial aid, and scholarship planning. Her approach has always been deeply relational. She believes that truly knowing a student, including their strengths, passions, and goals, is the foundation for finding the right fit.

She's particularly skilled at working with students who are still figuring out who they are and what they want. Rather than treating uncertainty as an obstacle, she sees it as an opportunity, helping students use the college search itself as a tool for self-discovery. She's also experienced supporting neurodivergent students, bringing patience, flexibility, and an individualized approach that meets each student where they are. Her background in Special Education informs everything she does in this space, and she has a genuine gift for helping students with ADHD and other learning differences find their footing and present their best selves.

Jen also spent nearly a decade in university admissions in Ohio, rising to Associate Director of Freshman Admission. In that role, she supervised a team of admissions professionals and a student staff of nearly 60, managed multi-county recruitment territories, and developed a firsthand understanding of how institutions evaluate applicants and build their classes. She served on the Michigan State University Admissions Advisory Board and has been an active, award-winning member of the Michigan Association of College Admission Counseling (MACAC) for over 15 years, earning both the Rising Star Award and the ACE Award for her contributions to the field.

Jen holds a Bachelor of Education in Special Education and a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration. She's also navigated the college planning journey as a parent, guiding her own two children through it.

What Parents Have to Say

"Without Jen and her guidance through the college preparations for the Common App, we would be lost. Jen is so knowledgeable and easy to work with and has the toughest skin to work with my grumpy teenager!"
