Back to School Organization That Really Works

Are you gearing up for back to school battles like homework, studying, and acing tests? It doesn't have to be this way. Don't let your relationship with your child become defined by grades.

You still have time to get organized before the first day of school. We've highlighted some back-to-school tips for kids of all ages in our Back To School Organization blog.
Help! My Child Is Nervous About the New Year!

A new school year brings new classes, schedules, and after-school activities full of excitement. But for some, a new year means new nerves and anxiety. If you've noticed your child is avoiding school supply shopping or hasn't checked to see what friends are in their classes, they may be nervous for the year to start.

As a parent, it's normal to want to protect your child from all the things they think are scary. The good news is, these fears are completely normal, and they can be overcome. Read our post on how to calm those Back To School nerves.

Tip of the Month: Prepare Now for Upcoming SAT/ACT Tests

With the first day of class quickly approaching, it's time to start thinking about the college acceptance process. You can read our blog post on "The College Essay: Better to Start Now" for tips on beginning the essay portion, but what about entrance exams?

If your child is thinking of taking the SAT or ACT in the fall or winter, now is the time to start preparing. Find the full test schedule online, and read below for some tips.

Students should start reading outside of school assignments and build a Vocabulary Bank of unfamiliar words. Reading builds grammar, writing, and comprehension skills. Work with your kids and ask detailed questions about what they're reading. Similar to a Vocabulary Bank, begin a Math Rules Bank of hard-to-remember rules and laws, so they can refresh these rules leading up to the test.

You can read more test prep tips on our blog, "SAT Tips from an Expert Test Prep Tutor". For more information or questions regarding the ACT, SAT, or Test Prep, contact Payton Marshall at
