Tip of the Month: Incorporate Childhood Games Into Learning

Practicing math doesn't have to require work books, calculators, and #2 pencils. Take that learning outside for some fun!

Christine, one of our top tutors, swears by hopscotch to learn math problems. "One of my go-to games is hopscotch. Write numbers or math problems on cards and make a hopscotch board in your driveway or outside to get the kids moving. If they get it right, they move forward; if it's wrong, they go back a space. You can even make a hopscotch board inside if it's raining!

I also do this game with writing and reading. You can laminate pages with lines and have the student pick a card with a word on it. If they write all the letters correct, they can move forward. It works great for sight word recognition."
