Teenage Motivation: A Student's Perspective  

As parents, we want to motivate our children to do their very best, but despite our efforts, some students don't have the intrinsic drive we hope for. The frustration parents feel is all too familiar, but what is this feeling like for the kids we deem "unmotivated"? 

Meet Joseph, a high schooler who has struggled with academic motivation. He was kind enough to provide some insight into what makes him tick and what hasn't worked so well.

Helping to encourage and motivate a student who might be feeling negative towards school is no easy task, but our tutors have had great success as they work with students one-to-one. I asked a few of our tutors how they motivate their students on a daily basis. 
Here are their top tips to spark learning in even the most resistant students.
"Honey, don't forget to check your work"...Why these words don't help


Have you ever said the words, "Don't forget to check your work"? Chances are your reminders didn't work. Why? Because taking time to review an assignment that is already done is difficult for students, especially those who may have weak executive functioning abilities or ADHD.
