Reading Remediation Package –
10 Sessions (1.5 hr sessions) or 15 (1 hr sessions)
Struggling readers will learn important decoding techniques using the research based REWARDS program.
Rewards uses a flexible strategy for decoding long words and increases reading fluency, particularly in content-area passages. (

Students will develop fluidity and confidence in their reading skills as a result. This program is designed to help students struggling to decode at the multi-syllabic level.
*This program is recommended for rising 4th-9th graders

Reading Comprehension/Active Reading Strategies Package-
10 Sessions (1.5 hr sessions) or 15 (1 hr sessions)
Students in this class will learn important visualization techniques needed to generate an in-depth understanding of text and in-turn elaborate on writing. The LindaMood Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing program will be used to teach concept imagery, sequencing, and critical thinking. Students will develop their expressive language skills which will in turn help with comprehension as well as writing skills. Active Reading Strategies (note-taking, highlighting, margin notes, etc.) will be practiced to improve reading comprehension.
Students are encouraged to have any summer reading assignments available for tutoring sessions.

Writer’s Workshop Package-
10 Sessions (1.5 hr sessions) or 15 (1 hr sessions)
This program will be taught in your home by an experienced tutor who will tailor the program to the age/level of your child. Sessions can be set up according to your scheduling needs.
Younger students will:
*Work on sentence/paragraph structure
*Create detailed introductions and conclusions
*Organize ideas in a structured manner
*Learn new techniques for writing reports and essays
*Improve on grammar and editing skills
*Become more creative writers using a variety of topics
*Learn to use different writing styles
*Work on creating short summaries
Older students will:
*Utilize summer reading/writing assignments
*Formulate 5 paragraph essays
*Perfect grammar and editing skills
*Learn to create thesis statements
*Prepare for college application essay

Educational Coaching Package (Organization and Study Skills) –
10 Sessions (1.5 hr sessions) or 15 (1 hr sessions)
This package will focus on teaching students of all ages how to organize and study based on their learning style. Sessions will include instruction in the following areas:
- Implement a system for organization of binder and materials
- Prioritize daily homework assignments
- Plan long-term projects and break down large tasks on a monthly calendar
- Schedule homework and extracurricular time accurately
- Learn valuable study skills:
- Memory techniques
- Note-taking
- Active reading strategies
- Quiz and exam preparation
